A workshop exploring how to make eco photo developers from coffee and spinach
On Saturday 11th December, Crescent Arts held a Chemigram workshop, but instead of using typical darkroom material, the participants had a go at making their own developers from more eco sources.
A Chemigram is an example of experimental photography where a painting/image is made on light-sensitive paper.
The developers that were made during the session included caffernol(instant coffee), and spinach. They create solutions which are far less toxic than normal darkroom developer, and also different image results, we were also using expired/old film paper, which is another way to make the process more green.
We saw some great results with people experimenting with natural materials and also different resists, that you might find around your house, such as body wash, soap, hand sanitiser, plasters and tape.
The workshop was run by artist and crescent arts curator, Martha Cattell to find out more about their work follow this link: https://www.marthacattell.com
