NEW EXHIBITION: QUILT AS FOLK

Scarboroughs queer quilt is coming back on show at your local library!

Where: Scarborough Library, Vernon Road, YO11 2NN

When: 7th September – 4th October 2024

Summer last year, we posted a call out looking for people to get involved in putting together Scarborough’s very first community quilt. The quilt was in response to the theme of ‘Queer & Coastal’ and asked us to think about what we want to say and celebrate about our indentities. The quilt was then displayed in the exhibition Always Been Here at Scarborough Art Gallery from September 2023 to January 2024.

We were overwhelmed and overjoyed with the response to the exhibition, and especially to the quilt itself. It’s with that in mind, that we realised what the quilt really meant to our community. The quilt will be in display at Scarborough Library in their exhibition section from Saturday 7th September to Friday 4th October.

You can also join us for the opening workshop where we shall be making patches which can either be taken away or to be contributed as part of the quilt!
